5 Tips Cuci Motor Super Bersih di Rumah, Pakai Alat Ini Jadi Mudah dan Cepat!

Dec 2023

Washing your own motorcycle at home can be quite a tiring activity. Not only does it need to be clean, but it also needs to be done carefully due to the engine and other sensitive parts.

Before you start washing your motorcycle, make sure to let the engine cool down first. This is to avoid water and cleaning agents from entering the inside of the engine which can cause damage.

To make washing your motorcycle fun and satisfying, check out these 5 tips that you can apply at home.

1. Removing stubborn dirt

Motorcycles that are never washed, or left parked in the garage for a long time can become a nest of stubborn dirt or dust.

If left unchecked, this dust will potentially interfere with the performance of the motorcycle during use. This can lead to danger for the rider.

Therefore, stubborn dirt must be cleaned regularly so as not to trigger severe damage to the engine or other motorcycle parts.

To remove dust that has been trapped for a long period of time, the best way is to use a wet and dry vacuum cleaner

This tool can help suck dust from the crevices of hard-to-reach motorcycle parts quickly and easily.

2. Clean the sensitive parts of the motorcycle first

Some parts of a motorcycle are very sensitive, such as the engine and chain. It is important to ensure that both parts are well cared for and maintained.

When washing the motorcycle, make sure to clean the chain first, and then the body. This is done to minimize oily residue that can contaminate the freshly washed motorcycle.

The first step is to remove coarse dirt from the chain with a wire brush before using a specialized chain cleaner.

After cleaning, lubricate the chain with a special chain spray. This is to make the chain pliable and protect against corrosion. To ensure that the chain spray sticks well, it should only be used on a clean and dry motorcycle chain.

Motorcycle engines should also be treated with care. Moreover, many motorcycle models nowadays have exposed engine parts, which can be damaged during washing.

Cleaning a motorcycle engine should use a sponge, soft brush, and a bucket of warm water.

Use the sponge first to wash the surface of the engine and the brush to clean dirt from smaller crevices. Then rinse with clean water.

3. Washing the motorcycle body

Once the sensitive parts of the motorcycle have been cleaned, it is time to thoroughly clean the body and fairing.

Particularly dirty areas should be cleaned with a gel cleaner, as the gel sticks well to vertical parts and does not drip. Thus, even hard-to-reach areas can be cleaned effectively.

Don't forget the headlights, mirrors, indicators and windshield. Stubborn dust often settles on these areas after long trips and especially in summer. These surfaces should be treated separately so that visibility is not impaired.

To remove stubborn dirt after soaking, gently scrub the motorcycle with a damp sponge. However, be sure to wash it regularly with water to prevent dirt particles and grease from spreading throughout the body.

To clean the surface of the motorcycle quickly and effectively, we recommend using a pressure washer.

As a tip, when using a high-pressure device, set the device to "Medium" performance power and ensure there is a minimum distance of 15 centimeters between the device and the motor being cleaned. Note that high pressure can damage plastic parts or seals on the motorcycle.

4. Cleaning motorcycle rims

Motorcycle rims can often be severely affected by dirt, such as mud or brake abrasion. To keep them in good working order, rims must be properly maintained.

When cleaning these parts, use a special rim cleaner, which removes all dirt as well as dust and tire wear on all types of rims.

Also, use a wheel wash brush that ensures 360-degree cleaning, even in hard-to-reach places and in the smallest crevices.

This brush is simply connected to the pressure washer. With this tool, water is evenly distributed to dissolve as much dirt as possible, and then rinsed off.

5. Dry and polish the motorcycle

It is very important to dry the motorcycle properly after washing it. To dry the overall body, you can indeed utilize natural sunlight with temperatures that are not too hot.

However, damp areas should also be wiped thoroughly with a cloth. If not, then water stains will quickly form, especially on the seat.

When washing the motorcycle, make sure no moisture gets into small crevices as this can cause corrosion in the long run.

Wet and dry vacuum cleaners come in handy as a solution. The inflatable function can be used to quickly and effectively remove water residue from smaller crevices. Alternatively, moisture can be sucked up directly using the suction function.
