Sometimes heavy rain accompanied by lots of lightning that occurs around our dwellings or buildings can have an unfavorable impact on the occupants. Lightning will also have an impact directly or indirectly on the electronic devices in the house that we have. To avoid the harmful effects of lightning on electrical surges in homes and buildings, we must have reliable and official protective equipment to give us a sense of security and comfort even though heavy rain accompanied by lightning often occurs.
Lightning strikes near buildings or overhead supply lines suddenly increase the voltage from 230 V to 3 or 6 kV which can damage electronic components such as memory, processors, capacitors and screens. To save the system from different magnitude of surge voltage, the capacity or size of the arrester varies. The amplitude can range from a few millivolts to about ten thousand volts.
Our surge protection devices (SPD) can absorb surges up to approx. 15 kV which is a value that most connected equipment can withstand. Reduce or even prevent damage to your valuables by installing a surge protection device, a series of surge protection devices that can be installed in the system to ensure protection from overvoltage or undervoltage.
Feature
- protect electrical equipment from direct lightning strikes (tested and rated according to standard current surge 10/350μs)
- defined by IEC/EN 62305-2 on commercial and industrial buildings protected by lightning conductors or mesh cages,
- Impulse current, Iimp
12.5 kA for iPRF1 12.5r : suitable for buildings with protection level III and IV
25 kA for PRD1 25r and PRD1 Master, 35 kA for PRF1 Master : suitable for buildings with protection level I and II
- must be associated with a suitable disconnecting device, fuse or circuit breaker: see coordination table
- iPRF1 12.5r and PRD1 25r are also rated type 2 (8/20 s) and protect electrical equipment by smoothly cutting voltage spikes
- suitable for 230/400V 50/60Hz network, with TT, TN-S, TN-C grounding system. The PRF1 Master is suitable for 440V TI systems which are also grounded.
Fixed surge arrester or cartridge mountable. The PRD1 surge arrester is equipped with a retractable cartridge which is easy to replace.
Multi-pole or single-pole kit for assembling. Output contact for remote transfer of end-of-life information (for Acti9 Smartlink or other input/output devices)
Application
- Protection of electrical installations in all industrial and tertiary buildings against induction or conduction surges due to direct lightning strikes
